Found this on StumbleUpon.. Couldn't agree more.

Number 1 - They Think, Say, & Do Negative Things.

Yup. They see problems in every opportunity.

They complain that the sun is too hot. They cursed the rain for ruining their plans for the day. They blame the wind for ruining their hair.

They think that everyone is against them. They see the problems but never the solutions.

Every little bit of difficulty is exaggerated to the point of tragedy. They regard failures as catastrophes. They become discouraged easily instead of learning from their mistakes.

They never seem to move forward because they're always afraid to come out of their comfort zones.

Number 2 - They Act Before They Think.

They move based on instinct or impulse. If they see something they like, they buy at once without any second thought.

Then they see something better. They regret & curse for not able to take advantage of the bargain.

Then they spend & spend again until nothing's left. They don't think about the future. What they're after is the pleasure they will experience at present.

They don't think about the consequences. Those who engage in unsafe sex, criminality, and the like are included in this group.

Number 3 - They Talk Much More Than They Listen

They want to be the star of the show. So they always engage in talks that would make them heroes, even to the point of lying.

Oftentimes they are not aware that what they're saying is not sensible anymore.

When other people advise them, they close their ears because they're too proud to admit their mistakes.

In their mind they're always correct. They reject suggestions because that will make them feel inferior.

Number 4 - They Give Up Easily

Successful people treat failures as stepping stones to success.

Incompetent ones call it quits upon recognizing the first signs of failure.

At first, they may be excited to start an endeavor. But then they lose interest fairly quickly, especially when they encounter errors.

Then they go & search for a new one. Same story & same results. Incompetent people don't have the persistence to go on and fulfill their dreams.

Number 5 - They Try to Bring Others Down To Their Level

Incompetent people envy other successful individuals. Instead of working hard to be like them, these incompetent ones spread rumors and try every dirty trick to bring them down.

They could have asked these successful ones nicely. But no, they're too proud. They don't want to ask advise. Moreover, they're too negative to accomplish anything.

Number 6 - They Waste Their Time

They don't know what to do next. They may just be contented on eating, getting drunk, watching TV, or worse, staring at the blank wall with no thoughts whatsoever to improve their lives.

It's perfectly fine to enjoy once in a while. But time should be managed efficiently in order to succeed. There should be a proper balance between work & pleasure.

Number 7 - They Take the Easy Way Out

If there are two roads to choose from, incompetent people would choose the wider road with less rewards than the narrower road with much better rewards at the end.

They don't want any suffering or hardship. They want a good life.

What these people don't know is that what you reap is what you sow. Efforts & action will not go unnoticed.

If only they would be willing to sacrifice a little, they would be much better off.

IMO - if you know people like this, they have to get out of your life. There is no use keeping around someone who will constantly be your "Debbie Downer." Don't try and persuade them to change. Just let them go. Over time, they will learn.

Books I've Read

An inspirational piece. I loved it. This book begins with Katie's life and abides by the quote, "no one leaves life unscathed," a quote Couric's mother always told her. Though she has lead a life of complicated trials and tribulations, nothing as stopped Couric from pushing forward and learning what it means to strive to be a better person and how to get through anything. This novel includes lessons and advice from Mario Batali, George Lopez, Ellen DeGeneres, Meryl Streep, and (my personal favorite) Beyonce'. It's a book to read when you are feeling low or even when you are feeling at your happiest. It will bring out the true beauty of the lives we have been given, and how we can face anything.

This is the fourth of the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. I honestly cannot believe it took me this long to pick up a Plum novel. My mom has sworn by them for years ... now I see why. Not only is she a savvy bounty hunter, Stephanie Plum is "saucy," sarcastic, and witty. She is every woman we strive to be - and she packs a pretty heavy pistol. This novel is a series of events and characters including meeting drag queen Sally and his psychotic roommate Sugar, ex-hooker Lulu, super sexy based on description Joe Morelli, weasel-like Eddie Kuntz, and the ever so hilarious 73-year-old Grandma Mazur. At the moments I held myself tight for suspense, I'd find myself ending up in a fit of laughter and tears.

Artsy Fartsy

I am a 21 year old college student who has spent most of my summer working 2 part time jobs and taking four 3 credit each summer classes. With all of this agony and work, you would think: what do you do with your free time? Well instead of sleeping, I park my ass on my bedroom floor and explore my imagination, I dig deep. I usually try to figure out something crafty, or I spend time with my nose in a book.

My latest crafts have been painting:

This was just a simple white word I found at A.C. Moore. I used acrylic paint around the edges and to cover the whole thing. Then used a very small brush to create the "leopard print."

Some people may find it weird that I used this color combination and pattern on this specific word. However, I looked at it as "Imagine" being my favorite song by John Lennon, purple being my favorite color, and leopard being my favorite print. It's kind of an introduction to myself.

The next project I worked on was a finger knitted jersey bracelet. I only ventured in experimenting with the "2 finger" knit (the yellow bracelet shown above), but you can also use three or four fingers to create an even bigger shape.

The instructions to create these pieces are here.

My final crafts of the past two weeks included these handmade, hand stamped cards. The ink, paper and stamps are mostly all from Stampin' Up.

Harry - thanks for the memories.

Well folks, it is the end of an era.

I am not ashamed to admit I have been a Potterhead for years. Not since day one, but very close to it. When I was in 6th grade, my friends mom asked if I wanted to see the afternoon premiere of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone which came out later that week. I said yes because I never missed any opportunity to go to a movie on a day off of school. After years of having no desire to pick up the first novel, I checked the book out from the library so I knew what the movie would be about (I have always been the type to compare book to movie.) I became so engrossed in the book that I read it in one day. I fell in love with the movie, I saw it about 5 times in theaters. I soon began reading the books like they were my only chance of survival. The movies became part of my life.

Then, around the 6th novel, I got really bored. I felt as though I was rereading the same thing just a different scenario. I was tired of the Harry Potter books. I could see the movies, but lost interest in reading the books.

Two weeks ago, I decided to change this. I bought the last Harry Potter book to finish off my collection and I read during every free moment I had. I read before bed, in the middle of the night, before going to work, at work - and finally, it was over. I had many moments of tears and many moments of "what-the-hells," but it was worth it. I could not wait to see the movie.

I saw the movie yesterday morning and I had to saw it was amazing. Better than expected, so, so so much better than expected. I loved it. I laughed and cried, but mostly cried. I am still finding it hard to believe his legacy is over. There will be no more books, there will be no more fears of Voldemort's return, but most of all, there will be no more Harry Potter.

Harry Potter has been like my stuffed animal, Baxter, to me. I have had Baxter since I was 3 and he has always just been there. A good friend, someone to turn to when I have had a bad day or just want to shut myself away from the world, something to captivate me, to hold my interest and to exercise my imagination which we tend to lose as we grow older.

Thank you, Harry for opening up a new world to me and so many others. We will miss you.

When I’m 80 years old and sitting in my rocking chair, I’ll be reading Harry Potter. And my family will say to me, “After all this time?” And I will say, “Always."

FINALS.

It's finals week! I have already freaked out enough to revisit my dinner twice today ... HOWEVER, I discovered these rules that I thought I would share with you all.

(these via Math.Union.edu)

1. Don't leave your studying to the last minute! Keep up with your work as you go along, that way you're not last minute cramming and teaching yourself instead of reminding yourself. A quote I totally have to steal from the website, "Consider this: if you are on a sports team, do you wait until a day or two before the game to start practicing? Try to apply that same attitude to your academic work."

2. Review your notes each night. Even if it is Monday night and your final is not until Friday, begin studying! Get a few chapters covered each night - it's much less stress on you Thursday night!

3. Get a good night's sleep before the exam. Most students pull all nighters (I know, I have done it so many times) but that is the worst idea imaginable! "Studies indicate the lack of even one or two hours of sleep can reduce your effectiveness and responsiveness by as much as 25%. "

Also, lay off of the caffeine and over dosage of sugar. It's not good for your health in general, why would you want to let it destroy your body before the biggest test of your semester!? As an avid coffee drinker, I reduce my intake to one a day, if any. I simply do not want to let it affect my work!

Alright - it's about time for me to hit the sack, I am going to get up early and get ready, simply so I can feel more comfortable with myself and more confident with my day!

Good luck my fellow peers! #Summer is right around the bend! :)

So Here's What You Missed...

The day I have been looking forward to since January is finally approaching - the end of my junior year! I will soon be a senior at Clarion University, with two jam packed semesters left until my ticket to the real world..

This year has been my year of adventure. I lived in my first apartment with three other girl
s, I turned 21, and I began to realize what organizations and clubs were most important to m
y resume. All I have to say is, thank God for this year of experience. I have already made the executive decision to not live with roommates next year, cut back on my social drinking, and am now on the e-board for a few great organizations!

I am currently laptop-less so my blogs have not had as much attention as they deserve, however, heading home this summer will fix this problem. Let's just carry on like I haven't missed almost two months of updating.

Entertainment Wise:

Prince William and Kate Middleton's ROYAL WEDDING was this week. It was bright and early Friday morning and I - being a college student - was sound asleep at 4AM so I missed it. However, the talk of "Who Designed Kate's Dress" haunted me all night. As soon as I woke up, I quickly went to search for images of the dress on Yahoo. The dress, designed by Sarah Burton, was flawless and absolutely made for a princess. Kate looked gorgeous wearing it, as though she walked right out of a real life fairy tale.

Rapper, Chiddy Bang, (also a friend of my boy friend) set a new world record for the longest freestyle rap. The old record, held by M-Eighty (no idea) was 9 hours and 15 minutes. Chiddy broke the record by three minutes and seven seconds. Now that he can break a record, I think he can do anything ... except for lower gas prices.

Dancing With the Stars is back with an awesome new season. The cast includes Hines Ward, Ralph Macchio, Lil Romeo, Kendra Wilkinson, and Chelsea Kane. The most recent eliminations include: Wendy Williams, Sugar Ray Leonard, and Chris Jericho.

Sports:

  • The 2011 NFL Schedule was finally put up online. THE FIRST STEELER GAME OF THE REGULAR SEASON WILL BE 9/11 in Baltimore. Let's tear those Ravens apart!
  • Rumors from The Saints camp state that Reggie Bush will be let go this season. I don't foresee many good teams taking him on.

New Releases:

In Theaters - Fast Five (PG13), Prom (PG), Hoodwinked Too! Hood v. Evil (PG)
Music - Beastie Boys, "Hot Sauce Committee Part 2," Colbie Caillat, "All of You," Jennifer Lopez, "Love?"

Also, if you're looking for a good thriller, I recommend going to see Scream 4 ASAP! Hayden Panetteire looks amazing in it, just saying.

I feel so unaccomplished. I haven't been getting anything done!
